Unveiled just days ago, the new Kodiaq marks a major upgrade over its predecessor. It debuts as a plug-in hybrid SUV capable of driving over 100 km on electric power alone, catering to India’s evolving appetite for eco-friendly performance vehicles.

Petr Janeba, Director of Skoda Auto India, shared the company’s vision during an interview with ANI, stating:

“We expect to sell at least 150% more than what we did with the previous version in India. This model is more luxurious and offers greater value.”

With a global sales record of over 900,000 units for the first-generation Kodiaq and more than 10,000 sold in India, the new model builds on an already solid foundation.

Skoda’s strategy for the Kodiaq hinges heavily on localization. The SUV is 100% assembled at the company’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with Indian regulations.

“The car is fully localized, which helps with affordability, after-sales, and long-term sustainability,” said Janeba.

The company also hinted that this local manufacturing approach is paving the way for future EV launches, emphasizing that entering India’s EV market will require a deeply localized EV platform.
