Government Sets April 30 as Final Deadline for e-KYC Completion

If you are a ration card holder, this is a crucial update you must not ignore. The government has made it mandatory for all ration card beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) process by April 30, 2025. Failing to do so may result in cancellation or suspension of ration benefits, including subsidized grains under NFSA (National Food Security Act) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana.

Why Is e-KYC Important for Ration Cards?

The e-KYC process helps the government:

  • Eliminate duplicate or fake ration cards

  • Update records of deceased beneficiaries

  • Ensure targeted and transparent delivery of food grains

  • Link Aadhaar with ration cards to prevent misuse

District authorities are actively conducting inspections and urging ration dealers to accelerate the KYC process.

What’s Happening on the Ground?

District Supply Officer Ankur Yadav recently inspected ration shops in Moti Bazaar and Arya Nagar, where he directed:

  • Ration dealers must complete e-KYC along with distribution.

  • Ration should be distributed from April 11.

  • Dealers must update details of deceased cardholders and remove them from the system.

  • Shop stock registers and records are being closely monitored.

Dealers such as Harsh Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, and Omveer Singh confirmed that 80% of the e-KYC has been completed, but hundreds of beneficiaries are still pending.

Who Needs to Complete e-KYC?

e-KYC is mandatory for all active ration cardholders, including:

  • Antyodaya cardholders

  • National Food Security Scheme (NFSA) beneficiaries

  • Priority household cardholders

Even if you’re receiving rations regularly, your services may be halted after April 30 if e-KYC is not done.

How to Complete Ration Card e-KYC?

You can complete your e-KYC by:

  • Visiting your nearest ration shop with your Aadhaar card

  • Using CSC (Common Service Centers) or Jan Seva Kendras

  • Through state food department’s official portal (where available)

  • You’ll be required to:

    • Submit Aadhaar details

    • Authenticate via biometric or OTP verification

    • Update any changes in household data.

    Conclusion

Don’t wait until the last minute—complete your e-KYC now to avoid disruption in receiving subsidized food grains. Inform your neighbors, especially elderly or less tech-savvy cardholders, and help them complete the process on time. Your one small step can ensure continued food security for your entire household.
