In a case of abduction involving a minor girl, Ullal police have arrested three individuals, including a couple, and successfully traced the missing girl. The main accused has been identified as Mohammad Shahbaz (27), a resident of Renjadi near Deralakatte. He was aided in the abduction by a couple from Konaje — Ameer Sohail and his wife Nisha.
Police have booked all three under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the minor girl has been rescued and handed over to the authorities. She has also undergone a medical examination as part of the investigation.
According to police sources, the girl’s father filed a complaint at the Ullal Police Station, alleging that his minor daughter had been lured and abducted by Shahbaz. The complaint also mentioned that Shahbaz had previously manipulated the girl and taken her away, though she had returned home. After the incident, the family had scolded the girl, which is believed to have prompted Shahbaz to plan a second abduction.
This time, Shahbaz reportedly took the help of the Konaje-based couple, Ameer Sohail and Nisha, to abduct the girl again. When the girl did not return home, her father approached the police and lodged a missing person’s complaint.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, Ullal police tracked down the accused and rescued the girl. All three accused were arrested and produced before a magistrate. Further investigations are ongoing.
Police officials confirmed that the case falls under the POCSO Act due to the victim’s minor status and that strict legal action will be pursued against the accused.
