Why Trump needs 'black Nazi' Mark Robinson

Send Push

Mark Robinson , North Carolina ’s Lieutenant Governor and Republican candidate for governor, embodies a unique mix of controversies and staunch conservative views. Former President Donald Trump called him "Martin Luther King on steroids," highlighting his ability to energize the GOP base. In stark contrast, Robinson once referred to himself as a "black NAZI" on a pornographic website forum, where he made numerous inflammatory comments.

Controversial Comments on Porn Forums: Between 2008 and 2012, Robinson, under the username "minisoldr," participated in discussions on the pornographic website Nude Africa. There, he openly shared offensive and inflammatory opinions on race, gender, and other topics. His posts included expressing support for reinstating slavery and referring to himself as a "black NAZI," shocking statements given his current political stance as a socially conservative figure. CNN identified the connection between Robinson and the "minisoldr" username through shared biographical details, such as using his full name and an email address he had used elsewhere online. Despite vehemently denying making these comments, the mounting evidence against him has led to public scrutiny.

Robinson's posts on the forum also showed a contradictory interest in transgender pornography , despite his recent history of anti-transgender rhetoric. This aspect of his past is particularly at odds with his current public stance, which includes strong condemnation of transgender rights.

Policy Positions: Robinson’s hardline conservative policy positions are another defining characteristic of his political identity. His stance on abortion is one of the most striking. In the 1980s, he admitted to having paid for his girlfriend's abortion, but over the years, he has become one of the most outspoken anti-abortion advocates. He describes abortion as "genocide" and "murder," and supports implementing stricter abortion laws in North Carolina. In 2023, Robinson declared that he would support a bill banning abortion with no exceptions, should he have the legislative power to do so. Recently, he indicated a willingness to maintain North Carolina’s 12-week abortion ban with exceptions for rape, incest, and the mother’s health but aims to push for more restrictive measures, such as a six-week or even a total ban. When it comes to LGBTQ+ issues, Robinson has been equally controversial. He has consistently argued against transgender rights and same-sex marriage, insisting that gender is strictly binary. He also expressed disdain for transgender women using women’s bathrooms, going as far as suggesting arrest for those who do.

Robinson’s economic and education policies also reflect a deeply conservative ideology. He opposes teaching critical race theory in schools, arguing that it promotes division. His stances align with the broader Republican push against what they term as "woke ideology," but they have drawn sharp criticism from those who see them as an attempt to suppress discussions about systemic racism and history.

Why Trump Needs Him: Trump's endorsement of Robinson signifies the former president’s attempt to solidify his influence in key battleground states. North Carolina is crucial for Trump's 2024 strategy, and having a candidate like Robinson, who can energize the conservative base, is essential for maintaining momentum. Robinson's unapologetic style, controversial stances, and commitment to conservative values make him a valuable ally for Trump in securing support among voters who feel disenfranchised or threatened by progressive policies.

Robinson's ability to stir enthusiasm among far-right voters is what makes him a valuable figure for Trump’s political agenda. His combination of controversial statements and hardline conservative policies captures a segment of the electorate that is crucial for Republicans, especially in swing states like North Carolina.
