Russia launches one of biggest drone attacks on Ukraine since beginning of war; 273 drones and decoys reported

At least one killed after Russia launched one of its biggest drone attacks on Ukraine since the start of the war on Sunday.

Ukrainian air defence reported 273 explosive drones and decoys, with 88 successfully intercepted and 128 rendered ineffective through electronic interference.

The strikes targeted multiple regions, including Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk.

The attack resulted in the death of 28-year-old woman in the Kyiv region, Governor Mykola Kalashnyk confirmed. Additionally, three individuals sustained injuries, including a 4-year-old child.

This assault surpassed Russia's previous record of 267 drones, which occurred during the war's third anniversary commemoration.

Meanwhile, Russia's defence ministry reported intercepting seven Ukrainian drones during the night, with an additional 14 drones taken down on Sunday morning.

The drone incidents occurred following unsuccessful direct discussions between Moscow and Kyiv on Friday, which did not result in a ceasefire agreement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's suggestion for direct talks in Turkey, Russian President Vladimir Putin declined the presidential-level meeting, although he proposed alternative lower-level negotiations instead of the 30-day ceasefire advocated by Ukraine and Western allies.

US President Donald Trump announced plans for Monday telephone conversations with Putin, followed by discussions with Zelenskyy and NATO leadership, focusing on resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
