The ICE arrested an illegal immigrant from India carrying a New York state commercial driver’s license with "NO NAME GIVEN Anmol ."
In a statement, the department of home security said that during a routine inspection at a truck scale on I-40 in September, the ICE met Anmol. During the check, ICE got to know that Anmol is an illegal alien from India, following that the authorities arrested him and placed him in removal proceedings.
A redacted image of the licence, revealed it is a Class A CDL issued in April and valid until May 2028. The licence also features a star in the top right corner, signifying it as a REAL ID.
According to the authorities, Anmol entered the US illegally in 2023 and was released by the Biden administration into the country.
"Allowing illegal aliens to obtain commercial driver’s licenses to operate 18-wheelers and transport hazardous materials on America’s roads is reckless and incredibly dangerous to public safety. Thanks to the successful 287g partnership of ICE and Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Anmol Anmol is no longer posing a threat to drivers,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“New York is not only failing to check if applicants applying to drive 18-wheelers are US citizens but even failing to obtain the full legal names of individuals they are issuing commercial drivers’ licenses to. DHS is working with our state and local partners to get illegal alien truck drivers who often don’t know basic traffic laws off our highways.”
This development follows national concerns over illegal aliens operating commercial trucks on US highways, intensified by the case of Harjinder Singh. Singh, an illegal alien from India, was charged with three counts of vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal crash in St. Lucie County, Florida, on August 12. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Singh held a California CDL despite failing an English language proficiency assessment and correctly identifying only one out of four roadway signs in the same test.
An official from the New York Department of Motor Vehicles contested Anmol’s illegal status, informing Fox News Digital that the licence holder has lawful status in the US through a federal employment authorisation issued in March and "was issued a licence consistent with federal guidelines."
The official asserted, "This commercial driver’s licence was issued in accordance with all proper procedures, including verification of the individual’s identity through federally issued documentation," and added, "it is not uncommon for individuals from other countries to have only one name."
Responding, McLaughlin told Fox News Digital, "the Biden Administration gave this illegal alien work authorisation in 2023" and that "work authorisation does not give anyone lawful immigration status."
She criticised, "It is insane that New York is issuing commercial drivers licences to illegal aliens. The state of New York needs to stop trying to pass the buck and admit they need to have stricter standards for issuing commercial drivers licences. They are putting the safety of all American drivers at risk."
