Iran is planning to launch a ballistic missile strike targeting Israel , a White House official told US media and added that it will have "severe consequences for Iran."

The official further commented, "We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack." They also warned, "A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran," ABC news quoted the official as saying.

The warning follows Israel's announcement that its commando and paratroop units have conducted raids in southern Lebanon as part of a targeted operation against Hezbollah militants.

The strikes have resulted in the deaths of Hezbollah's leader and several senior commanders. The Israeli security official described the incursion as "limited," with troops crossing only a short distance over the border and engaging in no direct clashes with Hezbollah fighters.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces , informed reporters, "At this moment we don't identify an aerial threat from Iran."

He mentioned that the United States had notified them about Iran's intentions to directly attack Israel, and urged the public to remain "responsible and vigilant," assuring them that he would provide updates as necessary.

An unnamed senior Israeli official also told ABC News that if Iran proceeds with an attack on Israel, the response will be severe.
