Haryana ACB nabs three food officials for accepting bribe of ₹1,50 lakh

CHANDIGARH: In a major catch ahead of procurement, the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday claimed to have arrested Depot Assistant- Ravinder and, Technical Assistant (Quality Control) Dharmender, both working at the Gohana Food Supply Depot in Sonipat district, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹1,45,000.

Both of them were arrested in a trap laid during late evening hours of Tuesday. While their arrest led to apprehension of the Depot Manager , Nandan Singh, who was held by the ACB team on Wednesday morning.

A case has been registered against the accused at the Rohtak Anti-Corruption Bureau Police Station and action has been taken.

ACB official said that action was consequent to the complaint lodged by a rice mill owner from Rohtak.. The complainant said that he was awarded a milling tender for the year 2023-24 from the Haryana State Warehouse Corporation.

The complainant claimed that he had already supplied 115 truckloads of rice to the Gohana Food Supply Depot. The complainant alleged that the accused Ravinder and Dharmendra were demanding a bribe of ₹1,50,000, threatening to reject the sample and raise issues related to weightage.

Based on the tipoff, the ACB team planned to catch the accused and last evening they successfully arrested the accused Ravinder with ₹50,500 and the accused Dharmendra with ₹94,500.

Later during investigations, involvement of the Depot Manager- Nandan Singh, was also found in this case, who was arrested by the ACB team.

This entire action was carried out with transparency in the presence of witnesses. A case has been registered against the accused at the Rohtak Anti-Corruption Bureau Police Station and his arrest has been made. The investigation is in progress.
