'Flow like water, don't explode like a bomb': BJP hits back at Rahul Gandhi's Election Commission remarks, says 'We'll save the Constitution'

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Friday strongly rebuked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his claim that his party has an "atom bomb" of evidence to prove poll irregularities, calling the remarks undemocratic and inappropriate.

Rahul, speaking to the press, had said the Congress possesses “open and shut” proof of alleged misconduct by the Election Commission during the Lok Sabha elections. Comparing the evidence to an “atom bomb”, he warned that the poll panel “won’t have a place to hide” when it “explodes”.

In a scathing response, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra mocked the statement, asking Rahul to "flow like water" instead of considering to "explode like a bomb."

“Will Rahul Gandhi explode like a bomb? What do you think? Their job is to explode. They have no other work to do,” Patra said at a press conference held at the BJP headquarters, questioning the Congress leader’s intent.

Patra slammed the Congress leader for using what he described as “undemocratic and undignified” language against a constitutional body. “You say ‘I will go to the Supreme Court’ or ‘protest democratically’, but ‘explode like a bomb’? This language shows they have no faith in democracy.”

He added that while Rahul and his party spoke of bombs, the BJP stood for democratic values. “We are those who have faith in democracy. If they explode an atom bomb, we will save the Constitution,” Patra said.

The war of words comes amid the opposition’s continued criticism of the Election Commission and its demand for greater transparency in the conduct of elections.
