Apple pauses iPadOS 18 updates for M4 iPad Pro, here's why

Send Push
Apple has temporarily halted the rollout of iPadOS 18 for its M4-powered iPad Pro models following reports of devices becoming bricked after the update.

Users who have installed iPadOS 18 on their M4 iPad Pro models have been encountering issues such as unresponsive screens , frozen devices, and complete system failures . These reports have prompted Apple to investigate the matter and pause the update to prevent further damage.

A spokesperson for Apple confirmed the decision and stated that the company is working diligently to identify and resolve the underlying issue. They assured customers that an update will be released as soon as the problem is addressed. “We have temporarily removed the iPadOS 18 update for M4 iPad Pro models as we work to resolve an issue that is impacting a small number of devices,” an Apple spokesperson told Appleinsider.

Affected users are advised to avoid updating their M4 iPad Pro devices to iPadOS 18 until further notice. Apple recommends waiting for an official announcement from the company before attempting to install the update.

This is not the first time Apple has had to pause a software update due to significant issues. In the past, the company has faced similar problems with updates to iOS, macOS, and other operating systems.

As Apple continues to investigate the iPadOS 18 issue, users will be hoping for a swift resolution and a stable update that does not cause further damage to their devices.
