Amid rumours of tiff with Elon Musk, Trump allies Margo Martin and Karoline Leavitt take President's Tesla for a spin

Send Push
Amid growing speculation of a fall out between President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk , two of Trump’s closest allies – Margo Martin and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt — took to social media to share a cheerful moment – cruising around in the president’s Tesla . Margo Martin, Trump’s longtime aide and deputy communications advisor shared a photo on X with Leavitt. The post is captioned:

“Taking President Trump’s Tesla out for a ride with @PressSec! Best boss ever.”

The post comes a day after Musk announced his exit from DOGE . In an X post, Musk wrote “As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

A joyride with a message?
While neither Martin nor Leavitt commented, the public spin in a Tesla – owned by Elon Musk – seems to have a hidden message. Whether it was meant as a show of loyalty, humor, or just coincidence remains unclear, but the post quickly caught the attention of political observers and social media users alike.

“A Tesla never looked better,” wrote one commenter on X. Another added, “Pretty cool when
@POTUS throws you the keys and says, “Take the Tesla!”.

“I love how y’all have bought into the green new deal,” said a third.

Musk-Trump tensions
The timing of the post adds fuel to recent reports suggesting that relations between Trump and Musk have cooled. Sources say disagreements over policy direction, and Musk’s growing frustration with political entanglements, may have led to his sudden departure from his advisory role.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO recently expressed his ‘disappointment’ with Trump’s ‘ One Big Beautiful Bill ’. In a CBS interview, Musk said “I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, which increases the budget deficit, not just decrease it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing.”

“I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful, but I don't know if it could be both,” he added.
