Shedeur Sanders is currently throwing his first passes as a Cleveland Brown at team rookie minicamp. The rookie's journey was closely followed by the NFL circuit and he was finally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round. And now sports personality Skip Bayless has shocked fans by alleging that Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady was responsible for the team's decision to pass on Shedeur Sanders multiple times during the 2025 NFL Draft.
In a recent episode of The Skip Bayless Show, Bayless criticized Brady, claiming he "wasn’t a part of any evaluation process" regarding Sanders, who eventually dropped to the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the draft. "I know I’m right," Bayless stated, according to Reice Shipley of Awful Announcing.
Was Tom Brady involved in the decision over drafting Shedeur Sanders?
"Tom your nose is going to grow. I defended you all through Deflategate," Bayless said. "Now, I gotta admit, you're making me wonder. If you dodged the truth about Shedeur would you have...Come on, Tom, just own it. If you don't believe in Shedeur as an NFL quarterback for whatever reason, just own that."
Bayless cited first-year Raiders general manager John Spytek who was Brady's former teammate at Michigan. He had reportedly told sports journalist Dan Pompei that those in the Raiders' front office would "have to be fools not to involve" Brady in discussions about the team’s quarterback decisions.
Pompei reported that Brady "met with Spytek and coaches to discuss" veteran quarterbacks after the previous season. Pompei noted that Brady "spent another day with Spytek discussing college quarterback prospects" during the predraft evaluation process.
Recently, Tom Brady admitted he was not involved in the Raiders decision, on an episode of Logan Paul's Impaulsive podcast.
"I wasn't a part of any evaluation process. That's the problem with media, anybody can say whatever the [expletive] they want and get away with it. It's kind of unfortunate because they're actually used to be a lot of integrity in media. There's way less now because everyone needs crazy voices to get heard."
