Simranpreet won silver after shooting 33, while China’s Yujie Sun shot 34 for gold. The bronze went to another Chinese, Qianxun Yao, who had 29 shots. Manu missed out on a medal after finishing fourth. The star shooter had done well in the qualification round by staying second with a score of 585.

However, she got off to a slow start in the final with two shots each in the first two series of five shots. She did well by shooting four in the fifth series, but she could hit the target only once in the next series, leading to her elimination. Esha Singh finished the final in the sixth position with a score of 17 points.

Simranpreet, who had started shooting in 2017, said she had blocked any thoughts about her opponents. “I didn’t think about either Manu or the Chinese. I was shooting well in the qualification and wanted to continue the same rhythm in the final. I shot well and I am happy to win a medal,” Simranpreet told TOI.
