Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their third victory of the IPL 2025 season by defeating Mumbai Indians in a closely-contested match at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, with their bowlers - especially Krunal Pandya - maintaining composure to secure the win despite a strong fightback from the hosts.
RCB posted an impressive total of 221 runs batting first, with Virat Kohli and captain Rajat Patidar contributing half-centuries. Mumbai Indians' captain Hardik Pandya and Trent Boult claimed two wickets each.

A remarkable piece of fielding from Phil Salt and Tim David turned the game in RCB's favour as MI tried desperately to chase the massive total down. When Deepak Chahar hit a short ball from Krunal Pandya towards deep mid-wicket, Salt made a spectacular catch above his head but realising he would cross the boundary, the England cricketer cleverly parried the ball to David who completed the dismissal.
Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya led Mumbai's chase and nearly achieved the target. However, quick wickets and a well-bowled final over by Krunal derailed their pursuit.
The loss has complicated Mumbai Indians' campaign as they currently occupy the eighth position in the standings with just one victory so far in the tournament.
The victory was particularly significant for RCB as they managed to overcome their previous struggles at the Wankhede Stadium, which has historically been a challenging venue for them. This was RCB's first win at the Wankhede since 2015!
