Raipur: In a case of a double murder, the bodies of a mother-daughter duo were found soaked in blood and deep head injuries on the veranda of their home in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district on early Tuesday.
The crime scene is a mere 200 meters from the local police station.
The 45-year-old woman Urmila Sidar and her 24-year-old daughter Poornima were killed by unidentified persons who allegedly bludgeoned their heads with a cricket bat, police said.
They added that prima facie, it appears that they were attacked while they were asleep. Police have also recovered the bat from the scene of crime.
The incident took place at an under-construction house, in which the mother and daughter were living in, at Pusaur village late on Monday. It was in the morning when, the younger daughter of the deceased Kalpana, returned home from a competition and spotted the bodies lying in the puddle of blood just adjacent to the house. She raised an alarm and informed the police.
The accused had covered the bodies with blanket and kept stones on it.

An FIR was lodged in the matter and police were combing through the CCTV footage from and around the place. Police have got some leads and officials said that they will soon zero in on the assailants.
A forensic team and dog squad have inspected the spot and it's being indicated that a personal dispute or enmity could be the reason of the crime.
