Raipur: For the first time in 24 years since the state's formation, office bearers of the Chhattisgarh Red Cross Society have been elected through a democratic process — a move initiated by governor Ramen Deka.
From Raipur to Durg, and from Bilaspur to Bastar, this election has injected new energy into the Red Cross movement in the state. The newly elected office bearers include Toman Sahu (Balod) as president, Rupesh Panigrahi (Jashpur) as vice president, and Sanjay Patel (Baloda Bazar) as treasurer.
Governor Deka has pledged to transform the Red Cross Society into a stronger, more transparent, and people-oriented institution. Established on April 4, 2001, the Chhattisgarh Red Cross Society in Raipur, over the past two decades, has been instrumental in disaster relief, healthcare services, and social welfare.
