Jaipur: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, speaking to a news channel Sunday, said the Centre should provide details regarding the circumstances and terms under which the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was declared.

"They will have to say what was discussed between the two countries," Gehlot stated. He also sought to know if the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack were brought to justice. "Pakistan should tell us if they (the terrorists) are dead. The Indian govt must have spoken (to Pakistan). If they are alive, they should be handed over to India. Will Pakistan cooperate after such a big incident? We will know about these things when the Centre replies," the former CM added.

Gehlot further mentioned that everyone has stood with the govt and continues to do so today. "Now, the govt will have to come forward and explain how the decision was made, and under what circumstances," he added, saying, "What discussions took place internally among them? In the future, terrorism will be eradicated, and Pakistan will not dare to support terrorism. Only they can explain how the govt decided on the ceasefire," he said.

"The terrorists' bases that were attacked have been destroyed. It is a significant achievement, showcasing the bravery and valour of the military. We are proud of this. They took great care to ensure no harm came to civilians inside Pakistan. Even their military bases were not touched. Only the nine terrorist bases were targeted. This action has been praised worldwide. That country is India," he said.

He further remarked that people are remembering former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi today. "In 1971, Indira Gandhi divided Pakistan. Even though US President Richard Nixon put a lot of pressure on her at that time, Indira Gandhi did not yield, and a full-scale war ensued. He (Nixon) sent a fleet to the sea, which was very dangerous. However, she did not care and managed to make over 90,000 soldiers surrender. This has never been heard of in world history and may never happen again."
