Mizoram's LADC presents 263.34cr annual budget

Aizawl: Chief executive member (CEM) of Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) V Zirsanga presented the annual budget for 2025-2026 financial year amounting to Rs 263.34 crore on the first day of the special budget session of the council on Thursday.

Zirsanga, during his budget speech, said the increase in the budget as compared to the last fiscal is Rs 13.92 crore. He said the LADC is expected to receive Rs 257.51 crore as grants-in-aid, Rs 1.82 under village council remuneration and Rs 4 crore from different sources of taxes.

According to the council chairman T Zakunga, the budget will be discussed on Monday and Tuesday next and is expected to be passed on Tuesday when election to deputy chairman will also be conducted.

The special session of the LADC was summoned even as the executive committee of the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) led by Zirsanga is yet to face a motion of confidence as directed by the state governor Gen VK Singh.

Zirsanga, appointed by Singh was sworn-in as the 19th CEM of the LADC on Feb 27 at LADC hall in south Mizoram's Lawngtlai town. Lawngtlai district DC Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy administered the oath of office to Zirsanga.
