Donald Trump said on Saturday that former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will not be invited to join his administration. "I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation," the President-elect wrote on social media.
He then added, "I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our country."Trump is meeting with prospective candidates who might be serving in his administration prior to the inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2025. He also met with Scott Bessent, a known investor and a potential US Treasury Secretary nominee, Reuters reported. Haley also served as US ambassador to the United Nations under Trump. On the other hand, Pompeo, a former director of the Central Intelligence Agency under Trump had also been viewed as a potential Republican candidate for presidency, before he announced in April 2023, that he would not contest. He also said that the presidential inauguration of January 2025 will be presided by former Senator Kelly Loeffler and real estate investor and campaign donor Steve Witkoff. The President-elect recently appointed his campaign manager Susie Wiles as his chief of staff, marking this as the first appointment in his administration.
