Priyanka Gandhi is all set to make her poll debut as the Election Commission announced dates for the Kerala bypolls. The Congress general secretary will make her debut from the constituency of Wayanad. The EC announced Tuesday that bypolls to two Assembly seats and the Wayanad constituency in Kerala will be held on November 13, and vote-counting will be held on November 23. The EC announced dates for the two-phase by-elections to 48 Assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats across 15 states. The Assembly by-elections for Palakkad and Chelakkara were triggered by the resignations of Shafi Paramabil of the Congress and K Radhakrishnan of the CPI(M). The duo vacated their seats after winning the Lok Sabha polls. The Wayanad seat was left vacant after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi decided to retain Rai Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress has since announced Priyanka Gandhi as their candidate. All eyes are now on Wayanad, which Rahul Gandhi had previously won. While Priyanka Gandhi's victory seems likely, the question remains whether she will surpass Rahul's winning margin.UDF's MM Hassan said, "The Congress, which will contest all the seats, will win 3-0, and at Chelakkara, there will be a big surprise." He added, "In Kerala, it’s now a triangular contest, and we all know what happened at the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat."For the ruling Left, while CPI(M) will contest the two Assembly by-elections, the CPI will take care of the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. The BJP, meanwhile, has high hopes in Palakkad, where their candidate 'Metroman' E Sreedharan narrowly lost to Parambil by less than 4,000 votes in 2021.State BJP President K Surendran said, "The BJP is on a high since the April 26 Lok Sabha polls. We will continue our winning streak and come out successful in the two Assembly by-elections, and at Wayanad, we will be putting up a stiff fight."
