Those who have recently got into fitness will likely be realising that even hobbies that seem the cheapest can soon get quite expensive. All the gadgets, new clothes, shoes and equipment can add up, and suddenly a simple interest in running can become quite the bank-breaker.
Fitness watches in particular are a piece of kit that seems to be found on every other runner, gym goer or swimmer's wrist. However, those looking to invest in a smartwatch can now get one for less, thanks to Amazon's deal on the - now £178.40 down from £259.99.
This watch not only has a 31% discount, but it also ticks many boxes that fitness enthusiasts want. For example, it gives shoppers access to their body battery, which then allows them to understand when they're charged up or need to rest. It also gives in-depth personalised insights based on sleep, naps, stress levels, workouts and more.
If sleep is a focus, users can get a sleep score and personalised sleep coaching to work out how much sleep they need per night. The watch can also track metrics like heart rate variability, and can track workouts with 30 built-in indoor and GPS sports modes, including walking, running, cycling, HIIT, swimming and golf. Inclusive to everyone, the watch also has a wheelchair mode which tracks pushes rather than steps and includes push and handcycle activities.
The watch also includes a morning report, fitness age, stress tracking, menstrual cycle and pregnancy tracking, meditation and much more. Plus, users can use their smartphone to connect to Garmin Connect for full access to all their metrics and information. For those planning a long hike, run or bikepacking trip, the Garmin even has a battery life of up to 11 days in smartwatch mode.
However, if this isn't quite what shoppers are looking for, they could try a cheaper option with the for £39.95 from Boots as a real budget option, which includes features such as a heart rate monitor and GPS function for the price.
Another choice could be the for £449 from Samsung. This has a power-saving mode up to 100 hours and is water-resistant. There's a dual GPS system and it features a 47mm face.
One wearer of the watch and an Amazon customer said: "Great all-rounder smartwatch and fitness tracker." Another said: "Fantastic watch and great app too. I know more about my body now than ever before."
"Watch quality is very good, I love that it tracks my sleep, heart rate, fitness levels and is easy to use with your phone," another shopper said. Others gave it a three-star rating and shared their mixed opinions. One said: "Mine couldn't track my heart rate unless I wore it right tight, so I sent it back for a refund."
The Express hasn't reviewed this exact model, but has previously covered the features of the newer Vivoactive 6 model, which is a step up from this Vivoactive 5 model currently reduced at Amazon.
He said: "Unlike the Forerunner watches, you can't send run routes to the Vivoactive 6, but otherwise is as fully featured as most casual runners will expect.
"Notably, Garmin says the Vivoactive 6 can survive up to 11 days on a single charge, a stat that, if accurate, wipes the floor with the latest Galaxy Watch and Apple Watch models. Picking a sports watch that lacks things like a third-party app ecosystem often results in wildly better battery life. I often tire of wearing a , or h when I review them because charging your watch every day is ridiculous."
