Former kickboxing champion Moises Baute has been arrested on suspicion of murder after delivering a corpse to a police station. The Spaniard is a renowned figure within Europe's combat sports community.
However, he has now been detained for his alleged involvement in a brutal killing after appearing at the Tres de Mayo National police station in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. He turned up with a dead body positioned in the rear seat of a vehicle. According to El Dia, the 40-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder alongside nightclub doorman Jonathan Martin, who is reportedly known as 'Johnny El Gordo'.
The duo are believed to have transported the corpse - identified only as 'Albertito' - of a local from El Cardonal in La Laguna. The victim's partner initially reported him missing on Tuesday afternoon, informing officers that he had arranged an appointment to meet with Baute, reports the Mirror.
Whilst the reason behind his death remains unconfirmed, according to Telecinco, officers were attempting to establish whether the victim had been subjected to abduction and torture or if violence erupted between the three individuals.
Additional theories have emerged from authorities as Pedro Fumero reported that "one of the hypotheses being considered by investigators from the Homicide Group is that the brutal assault and death are related to some kind of settling of scores over drug trafficking."

As per El Dia, it's believed that the duo turned themselves in to potentially secure lesser sentences. Baute, who has a criminal past, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison in 2023 for coercing a business owner. His rap sheet is also said to include stealing narcotics from drug dealers and intimidation.
Amidst the troubles of his legal woes, the kickboxer hasn't stepped into the ring since 2021, boasting a record of 30 professional bouts, 21 victories (10 by knockout) and nine defeats. He previously clinched world titles at organisations such as Enfusion and Superkombat.
His regional fight scene triumphs led him to compete in the Road to ONE: Strikers Cage Championship 7 tournament in June 2021, with the winner securing a spot in the Road to ONE: Europe tournament. After scoring a TKO win against Christian Brorhilker in the semi-finals, Boute clinched a decision victory against David Trallero in the finals to take home the tournament trophy.
