Reunion cast in full as Rose Ayling Ellis joins BBC revenge thriller

Reunion is almost ready to premiere but who will be starring alongside ' Rose Ayling Ellis in this upcoming thriller?

The four-part drama will combine spoken English and British Sign Language as deaf Daniel Brennan (played by Matthew Gurney) is released from prison and determined to find out the truth about why he was sent down in the first place.

Reunion, which premieres tonight, Monday, April 7, at 9pm on One and BBC iPlayer, comes from the producers behind Netflix's Adolescence which has been the UK's most talked about drama of the year so far.

Ahead of its release, here's everything there is to know about the cast and their characters in Reunion.

Reunion cast Daniel Brennan - Matthew Gurney

Having spent the past 10 years in prison, he wants to not only reconnect with his family and friends but find the truth as to why he ended up behind bars in the first place.

As he's deaf, Daniel isn't able to fully integrate himself with the hearing world and is shunned by the wider deaf community because of the time he spent in prison.

Daniel is played by deaf actor and writer Matthew Gurney who won Best Actor at Deaffest 2017 for his role in the deaf sitcom Small World and performed in Extraordinary Wall [Of Silence].

He is also remembered for his roles in Love's Labour's Lost performed in BSL and the Dave show Coffee Morning Club.

Christine - Anne-Marie Duff

Christine is the wife of the person that Daniel killed and is desperate to know the reason behind her husband's death.

In the trailer, she asks him: "He was your friend but you killed him. Why?"

Actress Anne-Marie Duff most recently starred as Grace Williams in Bad Sisters, with her also remembered for playing Fiona Gallagher in Shameless and Queen Elizabeth I in The Virgin Queen.

Some of her other major parts have been in Sex Education, His Dark Materials, The Salisbury Poisonings and Suspect, just to name a few.

Miri - Rose Ayling Ellis

Miri is Christine's daughter who grows concerned when her mum starts talking to Daniel following his release from prison.

Actress Rose Ayling Ellis rose to stardom when she joined the cast of BBC's EastEnders as Frankie Lewis for two years.

She then went on to win Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, truly making the actress a household name.

Carly - Lara Peake

Carly is Daniel's daughter but is wary of getting back in touch with him when he is released.

Actress Lara Peake is probably best recognised for starring as Daysee Butler in Disney+'s Rivals but has also worked alongside Nicole Kidman in How To Talk To Girls and Pierce Brosnan in Final Score.

Both she and Anne-Marie Duff are hearing actors but learned BSL especially for Reunion.

Stephen Renworth - Eddie Marsan

Actor Eddie Marsan has been in a plethora of shows and films throughout his career, including The Bill, Casualty, Netflix's Heartstopper, Inside No.9 and Grange Hill.

Marsan was also behind Inspector Lestrade in the Sherlock Holmes films by Guy Ritchie and played Amy Winehouse's dad in the biopic Back To Black.

In Reunion, Marsan will play Christine's over protective boyfriend who is seen demanding the police to send Daniel back to prison in the trailer.

Reunion premieres on Monday, April 7, at 9pm, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
