Paula Badosa takes drastic action after getting into public row over 'racist' photo

Paula Badosa has privatised her X (Twitter) account within 24 hours of being .

The Spaniard received backlash after one of her team members shared a photo of her online holding her eyes using chopsticks. The image was quickly criticised by tennis fans, who blasted the world No. 14 for her actions.

Badosa responded by apologising, saying: "Really sorry didn't know this was offensive towards racism." She then went on to limit comments on her Instagram page to filter out the stream of messages about the incident.

The former world No. 2 then reopened that can of worms earlier this week by trying to poke fun at the saga by posting online a photo with the caption: "Thank you for not posting a picture that gets me in trouble this time," along with eye-roll emoji and some laughing faces.

Again, Badosa was called out on her remarks. She hit back at those critics though, going on a lengthy rant about how they were 'offending and bullying people on social media'.

But the messages about her fresh comments have continued to stream in, and the criticism has prompted Badosa to delete her tweets on the matter - including her comments defending herself on Tuesday.

She has also privatised her account, preventing those who do not already follow her from viewing her tweets or reading any of her previous posts. Badosa has approximately 160,700 followers, though many more tennis fans read her extended message about how her critics needed to 'move on' and stop 'judging her without even knowing her'.

The four-time title winner wrote previously: "The story was finish when I came out and apologize and took the entire responsibility of it. Move on. Jesus.

"It's really tiring to see constantly hate and criticism on this social media. I had an issue, YES. But after that people and fans in China treated me amazing. Because they UNDERSTAND people can be wrong, recognise it and correct to be better next time and have another chance.

"But I still don't understand what is your point. You can constantly offend and bully people on social media and that's okay? This needs to STOP. Bye."
