Man Utd player ratings vs Liverpool: Six 8/10s as Maguire puts Red Devils in dreamland

Manchester United left it late to secure a famous win over Liverpool as Ruben Amorim enjoyed the finest hour of his spell as manager. Bryan Mbeumo's goal after just 61 seconds left the Anfield crowd stunned into silence despite a hint of controversy in the build-up. That was never going to be the end of the story, though, with Liverpool huffing and puffing until they finally broke through.

Cody Gakpo hit the post on no less than three occasions before he scrambled the ball into the back of the net to equalise. All of the momentum was with Liverpool until Harry Maguire popped up with a bullet header to snatch a dramatic victory. It saw United inflict a fourth successive defeat on their greatest rivals, giving their own long-suffering fans a day to remember.

Strong in defence for the most part despite straying out of position on a couple of occasions.

Created the opening goal with a brilliant pass using the outside of his foot and ran the show in the final third. A real danger.

Kept things calm in the middle of the park until he was substituted, putting his wealth of experience to good use.

Worked tirelessly at both ends of the pitch. Missed a big chance to double United's lead but got the assist for the winner.
