There is still time for Manchester United to complete one more summer transfer despite the window slamming shut on Monday. It was a busy period for the Red Devils, who strengthened in several key areas while also trimming some fringe players from their squad. Ruben Amorim will be hoping for his new signings to gel quickly as United seek a return to the Premier League's upper reaches.
United ended up spending around £216.8million on five new signings, with Benjamin Sesko the most expensive of the lot. He was joined by Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Senne Lammens and Diego Leon. A total of 12 players have also left Old Trafford since the end of last season, including most of those who were consigned to the 'bomb squad'.
Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan before Alejandro Garnacho completed a £40m move to Chelsea after months of negotiations. Antony returned to Real Betis on a permanent deal while Jadon Sancho was loaned to Aston Villa.
The only member of the 'bomb squad' who failed to secure a move away was Tyrell Malacia, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at United.
Even though the deadline has passed, there is still time for the Dutchman to secure a move elsewhere. The window remains open in several countries around the world, including Belgium, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Turkey could be a realistic destination for Malacia, with plenty of Premier League players moving to the country in recent seasons. Meanwhile, one of the government-funded clubs in Saudi Arabia might decide to take a chance on signing him.
Other options would include Greece, Switzerland or Serbia, with teams in those nations still able to recruit new players.
It seems unlikely that Malacia will get any minutes for United this season, given that Patrick Dorgu, Luke Shaw and Diego Leon would be preferred to feature in the left wing-back role.
United are still 'exploring exit routes' for the defender, according to ESPN, which suggests that a solution may be found over the coming days. However, there remains a slim chance that he could be reintegrated into the first-team group.
Amorim previously indicated that he would be open to members of his 'bomb squad' returning if they did not secure exits over the summer.
Speaking in pre-season, the United manager said: "When the window closes, it's a different history. When the window closes, we have to receive the players. Then a new life and anything can happen."
