Jurgen Klopp's former Merseyside mansion remains unsold over a year after his departure from the club. Nestled in the lush space of Freshfield, Formby, the six-bedroom luxury property originally priced at £4.25 million, but now carries a reduced price tag of £4m. However, it still awaits a buyer.
Klopp, who left the Reds last summer following a shock statement in late January 2024, leaves behind a residence replete with seven bathrooms, a swimming pool complex complete with shower and sauna, and no less than four reception rooms. A separate entertainment building houses a lavish spa and gym upstairs, only adding to its grandeur.
Located in an area known as 'Millionaire's Row', the property has long been linked with Liverpool Football Club for over two decades. It once provided a home to former manager Brendan Rodgers and the iconic Steven Gerrard, who first acquired it in 2005.
However, current Reds boss Arne Slot declined to stay in the property after taking over in July 2024. "It was identified by the club as an ideal base for incoming managers," a source said, as per The Sun in 2024.
"Arne [Slot] was offered it when he took over in the summer but has chosen to live elsewhere. As a result, the club has decided to cut its losses."
Rightmove property expert Tim Bannister also told the BBC that the residence was one of the website's most viewed properties in 2024.
"From a luxurious former football manager's [Klopp] residence to a historic Grade I listed abbey, the most viewed homes of the year reflect the wide-ranging dreams of home-hunters this year across Britain," he said.
Klopp left Merseyside after having won nine major trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League, having been installed as manager in October 2015. He cited a "lack of energy" as the driving force behind his departure.
Since leaving Anfield, Klopp has embraced a new challenge as Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull group, despite speculation linking him to high-profile club roles at Real Madrid and Roma.
Slot meanwhile has secured instant success on Merseyside after winning the Premier League title in his first season. However, despite not taking up in Klopp's old house, the pair have struck up something of a friendship with Klopp in attendance at Liverpool's final home game of the season against Crystal Palace where they lifted the Premier League trophy.

Praising Klopp after being left such a strong team by the German, Slot said: "It [winning the Premier League] feels great. I don't think I want to say a lot. The only thing now is to send my appreciation to Jurgen Klopp."
