
A paradise island with year-round 30C temperatures has just become that little bit easier to reach. For the first time, easyJet has launched flights from Gatwick to the little-known island of , located a few hundred miles off the African coast.
The flights will depart three times a week all year round, taking off every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, allowing British holidaymakers to catch some rays even when the weather in the . The route marks a new milestone for easyJet, as this is their first sub-saharan service.
Cape Verde is an archipelagic state located in the central Atlantic Ocean, known for its volcanoes and breathtaking beaches. Its average winter temperatures are 31 degrees, meaning one is never without sun if paying the island a visit.
TravelSupermaket has described the country as the "African Caribbean" due to its "laid-back" lifestyle and "sumptuous beaches". The small island of Sal is home to gorgeous sandy beaches and a vast array of marine life, including loggerhead turtles and lemon sharks.
A must-see attraction on the island is the Pedra Lume Salt Crater, where one can take a wellness dip in the salty water.
The island has lots of al fresco restaurants for fine dining, serving a unique blend of African and Portuguese cuisine. The national dish is cachupa, which is a stew made from cured meats, fish and vegetables.

It is situated just six hours away from the UK, and has a time difference of only one hour, meaning jet lag will not need to be a worry for Brits visiting here.
easyJet holidays is offering week-long packages here from just £464 per person.
This is not the only far-flung destination launched by easyJet recently. They have also begun carrying passengers directly to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, known for its rich and dense history.
