Party-goers in Ibiza have spoken out after they were charged a staggering amount for a glass of at an event.

Revellers spoke out after attending an after-party for the DJ Awards, dubbed the 'Oscars of electronic music', at the Chinois club on the last Wednesday (October 2).

The champagne on offer from one of the event's sponsoring brands was from a bottle of Christophe Prestige, a brut sold for less than 20 euros (£16.76).

However, those purchasing it at the elite club were charged a staggering 28 euros per glass (£23.47), as local outlet was able to verify.

The gross profit on each bottle, therefore, is around 150 euros, as an average of six glasses can be poured from each bottle. This totals a margin of more than 800% per bottle.

Ibiza is famed for its incredible party scene - but also its lofty prices. The news comes after the legendary club Pacha Ibiza set tongues wagging by flogging tickets for an eye-watering 200 EUR (£167.61) apiece.

@dwaynemuffin was quick to comment on the news, saying in a now-viral video: " Did you hear it cost 200 euros to get into Pacha last night? That's crazy money, but the demand is real. What's the most you'd be willing to shell out for a club ticket in Ibiza?"

Organisers declined to comment.

The first edition of the newly-revamped DJ Awards was a night of music and celebration in Chinois, Ibiza. Winners in several key categories were announced and BBC 1 presenters Jaguar and Katie Knight presented special industry awards to legends of the scene.
