Emmerdale fans fume over hospital blunder as Aidan's 'future' sealed after John attack

viewers believe they spotted a huge error following John Sugden's (Oliver Farnworth) near attempt on Aidan Moore's (Geoff Dignan) life. During Tuesday's (May 27) instalment of the ITV soap, John came face-to-face with his former partner Aidan for the first time since he woke up from his coma.

Aidan simply muttered "you" as he ended up alone in his hospital room with John, who appeared furious that his ex had "started talking". John continued: "I loved you, more than you ever did me," and vented, "I tried to show you how much you needed me... I saved you. It was only because you were too weak that it ended like us... It wasn't like that - I save people. It's what I do, it's who I am." In a tense moment, as Aidan reached for the emergency call button by his bed, John exposed his dark intentions by revealing a syringe.

"I never wanted to have to do this but you gave me no choice. I wanted something painless so you'd just drop off but my mum wouldn't leave me alone so this is all I could grab," John uttered before he silenced the machine and administered the injection.

However, in a dramatic twist, John hesitated at the crucial moment and confessed he couldn't go through with it - only for Aidan to suffer a cardiac arrest.

When confronted by his husband-to-be Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), John explained that Aidan was not dead, but had slipped back into a coma.

However, the sinister interaction only led fans to question how John was left alone in Aidan's room for so long, with no intervention from a nurse.

Taking to X, one wrote "oh come on, where's all the nursing staff??????????? OH NO WAY, NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY. This is brilliant comedy!!!!!!!!!"

A second claimed: "These scriptwriters need to do their research on how the NHS works."

"So it flatlined and no alarms went and no one was suspicious," another pondered as a fourth asked: "I thought they had monitors at the nurses station that showed the patients vitals."

"What an absolute load of rubbish this is," fumed a fifth viewer.
