Emmerdale's Mackenzie Boyd (played by Lawrence Robb) left fans reeling after delivering a heartbreaking ultimatum to wife Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), threatening to end their marriage over her shocking surrogacy plans.
Just days ago, viewers saw Charity make an emotional decision to offer herself as a surrogate for her granddaughter, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill). The teen, who lives with the life-limiting condition Fanconi Anaemia, recently underwent a hysterectomy following a cancer diagnosis, leaving her unable to carry children.
Charity's offer was driven by the belief that Sarah deserved the chance to become a mother, and she didn't want her granddaughter's condition to rob her of that opportunity. With Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) already on board as the sperm donor, the process quietly began - but crucially, without Mackenzie's knowledge.
That changed on Monday night's dramatic episode when a vindictive Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) let the truth slip, setting the stage for an explosive confrontation. Mackenzie returned home furious, demanding answers from Charity and accusing her of deception.
"Would you still be pretending when you're nine months pregnant?" he snapped, clearly blindsided and heartbroken. Despite the intensity of the row, neither was willing to back down.
Mackenzie raised serious concerns about the health risks to Charity, but also accused her of using the surrogacy as a way to "prove she doesn't always fail children" in a cruel dig that hit close to home given Charity's complicated past as a mother.
Still, Charity remained steadfast in her belief that this was the right thing to do, not just for Sarah but also for herself. Later, she tried to reassure her granddaughter that Mackenzie would eventually come around.
In scenes yet to air, Mack arrives breathless at the fertility clinic, and Charity tells him the procedure went well. As the Dingles celebrate, Mack misses his opportunity to express his feelings.
Mack's urged to make his concerns clear to Charity, but will he be able to voice them to her?
Emmerdale continues on ITV1 tonight at 7.30pm and is available to stream on ITVX.
