Comedian says he "hit a wall" after a week of training for Strictly Come Dancing "took its toll". The 47-year-old shared in his new column that four days of rehearsals had left him "knackered" and concerned whether he could pull the routine off.

He wrote, reflecting on his Movie Week Jive: "Our first two run-throughs were not great if I'm honest. A lot of the technical aspects that Dianne had drilled into me that week were nowhere to be seen, and my energy levels were rubbish.

"The mistake I then made was trying to run it for a third time when I was probably incapable of even running for a bus, and I ended up messing it up in ways that would have left Craig Revel Horwood rubbing his hands with glee and with way too much to say," he added in .

In a stroke of luck, Chris was able to pull it together on Saturday night and he Dianne, 35, performed their Jive to the Wayne's World theme without a hitch.

To Chris's surprise, they received positive feedback from the judges including an impressive score of seven from

Chris previously divulged details of his "friendly battle" with Craig, telling Digital Spy: "Do you know what, he's a character isn't he? I'll poke him with a stick and see what I get out of him."

Earlier this week, Chris was dealt another blow when he became unwell ahead of a crucial training session.

He bravely took to social media, declaring he was "falling apart" yet "motoring on like a soldier".

On Wednesday, Chris said in a Instagram clip: "I've had a cold. I'm falling apart, but I'm motoring on because I'm a soldier. But we're getting through the dance with the song, all the way through, occasionally better than where it was yesterday," reports Birmingham Live.

During the clip, Dianne explained that Chris had humorously told her: "I've got a bug, my throat's a bit sore, my nose is bunged up, just letting you know in case you want to wear a helmet."

Last night, Chris and Dianne fought for their place in Week Five by performing a Salsa to Down Under by Men at Work.

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results airs on BBC One at 7.18pm.
