Chloe Madeley has revealed the secret to her parents, Richard and Judy's enduring marriage.

TV veterans Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have been a fixture on the screen since they began co-presenting This Morning in 1988.

Like any couple, they've experienced their share of ups and downs. But unlike many high-profile pairs, they have managed to stay true to their vows.

Chloe revealed: "They would honestly say the same thing. The secret to them having such a long marriage is to not get divorced!"

Speaking to Closer Magazine, she added: "They've been together over 40 years and during that time there have been periods where they really struggled, but they kept going and stayed together. I don't think it was ever bad enough for them to split."

Richard and Judy met in 1982 when they worked on separate shows for Granada Television.

Both were married to other people at the time of their introduction. "I thought he looked nice. Tall, handsome, and all that but I thought the suit was a bit flash.

"Then, because he was a newbie, I was assigned the job of looking after him," Judy previously told The Mirror of the first time she laid eyes on Richard.

The co-workers divorced their respective spouses and married each other four years later in Manchester. Richard admitted to having several affairs during his first marriage. Just 21 when he married Lynda Hooley, Richard has since said that the marriage was a mistake and that he struggled to be faithful.

Speaking about how many women he bedded during the six-year union, Richard previously said: "Oh lots, numerous, probably in the space of about five years, about 10."

He added: "Although the marriage had some very happy moments, there was a lot of negativity in it. I'm not using that as an excuse. It's wrong to have affairs, but I was a very young man."

Despite her parents' lasting marriage, Chloe Madeley left fans shocked with her split from her ex-husband, James Haskell.

The fitness guru, 37, and former rugby player James, 39, who share their two-year-old daughter Bodhi together, announced their split in October 2023, after a decade together and five years of marriage.

While Chloe didn't go into great detail about the reason for their split, she admitted they were both feeling "awful" in their relationship.

She told OK! Magazine: "I'm never going to go into great detail about why we broke up because it's not fair on anyone and I wouldn't want him to either, but what I will say is it was f***ing awful.

"Part of the reason we wanted to end it was because we wanted it to stop being awful, so why would we then take that into a break-up and it continue being awful. It was hard at the beginning. You have to work at it like everything in life and we've really done that."
