BHOPAL: In a major move toward women empowerment, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, approved a 35% reservation for women in all state government job recruitments. This decision, taken in the cabinet meeting held at Mantralaya in Bhopal, marks an increase from the previous 33% reservation, aiming to create greater gender equity in government roles across the state.
Following the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla said, “Reservation for women in all recruitment under government services in Madhya Pradesh has been increased to 35 percent from 33 percent. This is a major step towards empowering women in the state."
The cabinet also made key decisions to aid the agricultural sector. Approval was given to establish 254 new fertilizer sales centers, allowing farmers easier access to fertilizers with cash payment options, which will help reduce long waiting times.
In addition, the cabinet gave the green light to set up a 660-megawatt thermal power plant in Sarni. This plant will replace older units with a combined capacity of 830 megawatts, enhancing energy infrastructure and efficiency.
Further, the age limit for recruiting Assistant Professors in medical colleges has been raised from 40 to 50 years, opening more opportunities for experienced professionals in the state’s healthcare education sector.
In terms of industrial development, Shukla highlighted the success of the recent Regional Industrial Conclave held in Rewa, which attracted around 4,000 investors and business leaders. The event brought in investment proposals worth approximately Rs 31,000 crore, expected to create over 28,000 jobs in Madhya Pradesh.
These regional conclaves are being organized as preparatory events for the upcoming "Invest Madhya Pradesh - Global Investor Summit 2025" (GIS-2025), scheduled for February 7-8 in Bhopal. GIS-2025 aims to position Madhya Pradesh as a prime destination for investment, showcasing its resources, industrial potential, and business-friendly environment.
The state has held several such conclaves, with earlier editions taking place in Ujjain, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Sagar, and Rewa. Each event has generated significant investor interest, reinforcing the state’s reputation as a promising hub for industry and innovation.
