Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum to Star in True Crime Film 'Roofman'

Kirsten Dunst is set to star alongside Channing Tatum in the upcoming true crime film Roofman, directed by Derek Cianfrance. The film delves into the audacious crimes of Jeffrey Manchester, also known as the "Rooftop Robber."

Fresh off her critically acclaimed role in Civil War, Dunst will play a pivotal role in this gripping story. Jeffrey Manchester gained notoriety for breaking into over 60 McDonald’s locations by accessing their roofs. Once inside, he would lock staff in freezers while stealing from the registers, all without using violence, which added an eerie charm to his heists.

In 2000, Manchester was caught and convicted, but his story didn’t end there. He made a daring escape from prison and hid out in a Toys 'R Us and Circuit City store in North Carolina. While living off baby food and exercising on store bicycles, he remained undetected until he accidentally left fingerprints on a Catch Me If You Can DVD, leading to his eventual recapture.

Dunst will portray a Toys 'R Us employee struggling financially while raising her two daughters, Dee and Lindsay. Unbeknownst to her, Manchester had been watching her from inside the store and developed feelings for her. Their relationship starts as a charming connection and evolves into a complex bond, even after she uncovers his criminal history.

The film’s script is co-written by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, with production led by Dylan Sellers and Chris Parker through their Limelight banner, alongside long-time collaborators Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell Taylor.
