The smartphone will be named 'Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition' and will be launched on October 30. The launch is believed to be the end of a community-driven initiative that began in March 2023, where users will contribute to the design, packaging and promotional aspects of the phone.
Nothing is known for its creative and powerful smart devices. It is now going to launch its first community edition smartphone. This upcoming smartphone will be named 'Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition' and it will be launched on October 30. This launch is considered to be the end of a community-driven initiative that started in March 2023, where users will contribute to the design, packaging and promotional aspects of the phone. The company is headed by Carl Pei, he has confirmed the launch date through a post on social media platform X.
The project started in March
The Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition project was launched in March 2024, following the launch of the standard Nothing Phone 2a. The project lasted 6 months and was completed in four stages. Community input was taken at each stage, starting with the hardware design, then packaging, wallpapers, and finally, the marketing campaign for the new phone.
The final design also incorporates the phosphorescence concept, which comes with a unique green finish that glows in the dark. The packaging, wallpapers and marketing materials also follow this theme, giving this special edition phone a cohesive aesthetic. Nothing has also recognized and listed the winners who contributed to the project on its website.
What features can be found?
The Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition has a new look, but its internal specifications are the same as the previous model. The standard Nothing Phone 2a was launched earlier this year, featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC. It has a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate that goes from 30Hz to 120Hz, giving you a very smooth visual experience.
Talking about the camera, it has a dual 50-megapixel rear camera setup and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. It also has an IP54 rating, which makes it resistant to dust and light water splashes.
