Lorraine Kelly issues update from sick bed to pay tribute to 'hero'

Lorraine Kelly is currently taking a break from her self-titled show as she recovers from surgery. The 65-year-old told her vast following on Saturday that she was in hospital and would need to undergo a procedure.

The popular TV host stated she would need her "ovaries and tubes taken out", as a "purely preventative" measure. A subsequent post on Monday informed fans that Lorraine had been well cared for, and confirmed that she would be "following doctors' orders to rest up".

Her absence from the show this week comes as no surprise, given her need for recovery. Nevertheless, she couldn't let today pass without marking a momentous occasion.

It's the 99th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, prompting Lorraine to share a photo with the national treasure. she captioned the post: "Happy 99th Birthday Sir David - a giant of a man. The best of us. Total legend. I'm honoured to have met you".
