In good news for Punekars, the Shivajinagar-Hinjawadi Metro Line, also known as the Puneri Metro, is now 90% complete and in its final stages. Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase chaired a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the development of the Hinjewadi Industrial Area.

During the meeting, the progress of Pune Metro Line 3, new road projects, infrastructure improvements, and development proposals were reviewed. The meeting was attended by PMRDA Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan, officials from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, the Hinjewadi Industrial Association (HIA), and representatives from IT companies.

PMRDA remains committed to the sustainable and dynamic development of Hinjewadi, with significant advancements in connectivity and infrastructure on the horizon.

Land transferred

Earlier in March, all the land required for the Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line-3 project was made available. The project required 263.78 sq. m. of land near the Raj Bhavan office in the Pune University area. A proposal was submitted for this in November 2022. With the approval of the transfer of this land by the Raj Bhavan office, now the entire land required for the metro project is available.

This metro project is 23.203 km long and is being implemented on the basis of Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The project was approved by the government on February 9, 2018.

This 23.3 km-long Line 3 will not only enhance daily commutes but also boost development and ease traffic congestion across the city. Meanwhile, in good news for commuters, Maha Metro and PMRDA are in talks to construct a foot overbridge (FOB) to connect the Civil Court and Shivajinagar Metro stations.
