Igatpuri (Nashik): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted an illegal call centre operating in Igatpuri (Rainforest Resort) in Nashik district. Foreign nationals were being cheated through this call centre. The CBI has arrested five accused in this case, one accused is absconding.
On August 8, 2025, the CBI had registered a case of cyber fraud against six private individuals, unknown persons and bank officials from Mumbai. According to the FIR filed, these accused were colluding to commit financial fraud through phishing calls by pretending to be representatives of Amazon Support Service.

The accused were extorting money from citizens of the US, Canada and other countries through gift cards and cryptocurrencies. Around 60 operators like 'dialers', 'verifiers' and 'closers' were recruited in this illegal call centre. During the raid, 62 employees of the call centre were found actively defrauding foreign nationals. Further investigation into the case is underway.

The CBI has seized a huge amount of property in this operation.
The items seized include the following: 44 laptops, 71 mobile phones, 500 grams of gold, 2 luxury cars and 1 scooter, around 5,000 US dollars (approximately Rs 4.15 lakh), 2,000 Canadian dollar vouchers (Rs 1.26 lakh), Rs 1.20 crore cash and other incriminating documents
