Television actress Dipika Kakar, well-known for her iconic role in Sasural Simar Ka, is facing a serious health battle after being diagnosed with a liver tumour approximately the size of a tennis ball. Her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, recently informed fans about her condition through an emotional vlog, asking everyone to keep Dipika in their prayers as she prepares for an upcoming surgery.
Shoaib Opens Up About Dipika’s Health Scare
In a video titled Need Your Prayers, Shoaib solemnly addressed his followers, revealing the distressing news. Speaking in Hindi, he explained that Dipika had been feeling unwell for a while. While he was away in Chandigarh for work, she began experiencing persistent abdominal discomfort. Initially assuming it was acidity, they didn’t expect anything serious.
However, when the pain didn’t subside, Dipika consulted the family physician—the same doctor who previously cared for Shoaib’s father. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and advised her to undergo a few blood tests. Although the antibiotics provided temporary relief, the discomfort returned shortly after Shoaib’s father’s birthday. Subsequent blood work revealed a troubling infection in her body.
Alarmed by the results, the couple pursued further testing. Shoaib recounted how their doctor advised a CT scan, which unveiled a sizeable tumour in the left portion of Dipika’s liver. "It was around the size of a tennis ball," he shared, adding that the discovery came as a shock to both of them.
Awaiting Confirmation and Surgery
Following the diagnosis, Dipika was immediately admitted to the hospital for additional testing to determine the nature of the tumour—specifically, whether it was cancerous. Though she has now returned home, she is scheduled to be re-hospitalised soon for a surgical procedure to remove the mass.
Shoaib noted that early test reports appear reassuring, but they are still awaiting one critical pathology result expected later this week. He stressed the importance of the upcoming surgery and thanked fans for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
A Journey of Love and Strength
Dipika’s personal life has seen both challenges and blessings. She was previously married to Raunak Samson, but the two separated in 2015 after four years together. She later met Shoaib Ibrahim on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka, and the couple got married in 2018 in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family. In 2023, they welcomed their son, Ruhan.
Dipika’s most recent appearance on television was in the much-loved romantic series Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum. As she gears up for surgery, fans across the country are sending their prayers for her swift recovery and strength.
