Chennai and its neighbouring areas, including Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpet, are expected to experience heavy rainfall, with estimates ranging from 6 cm to 12 cm in isolated spots until November 15. The showers are driven by a low-pressure system forming over the southwest Bay of Bengal, which is projected to move toward Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka in the coming days.

Rainfall deficits and an active monsoon phase
From November 12, an active monsoon phase is expected to bring much-needed rain to many districts, as blogger Pradeep John noted in a recent post. “From Nov 12, the active phase of the monsoon picks up. The action will first start in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpet followed by other parts of Tamil Nadu. A good rainy week ahead from the 12th,” he shared.
