As he gears up to celebrate his 50th birthday, Bengaluru-based cardiologist Dr. Deepak Krishnamurthy is hitting pause on his packed professional schedule to focus on something just as important—his own health. Known for his expertise in cardiovascular care, Dr. Krishnamurthy recently announced a partial sabbatical via social media, where he's also a familiar and engaging presence. While he’s still available for consultations at RxDx Clinic in Whitefield, he’s using this break to kickstart a long-overdue fitness journey. And now, by sharing his diet and workout routine, he’s inspiring many to take charge of their wellness too.
Sharing a glimpse of his fitness journey on X, Dr. Deepak Krishnamurthy detailed his current diet and workout routine that’s all about balance and discipline. His daily meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner—with roti replacing rice for now—along with two scoops of whey protein, a serving of yoghurt as dessert, two black coffees, and a glass of watermelon juice. He’s staying off sugar and sweetened items, focusing on hydration, and tracking his meals to stay accountable. On the fitness front, he clocked in 6,000 steps and wrapped up an hour of weight training, calling it a solid day.
One user encouraged the cardiologist to keep layering consistency over time, noting that doing so would steadily elevate his baseline. Another appreciated the fitness updates, saying that diet charts are just as important as educational ones and hoped Dr. Krishnamurthy’s journey would inspire others to run, jog, cycle, or swim for better physical and mental health. Someone else offered a tip to replace pickle with green chutney, raita, or a glass of buttermilk. When a curious follower asked if his meal included egg bhurji, the doctor clarified it was actually paneer bhurji.
Doctor on sabbatical
Recently, Dr. Deepak Krishnamurthy shared that he is on a partial sabbatical ahead of announcing his next professional assignment. He’s using this time to reset a few things as he approaches his 50th birthday. Kickstarting his fitness journey with guidance from his friend, Dr. Nandita Iyer, he admitted he might not be the easiest patient to work with—but added that she seems confident about helping him make meaningful changes.
Dr. Krishnamurthy’s decision to step back and focus on his health has struck a chord with many, drawing admiration and support from followers across social media. In a field known for its relentless pace and emotional demands, his choice to prioritise personal well-being has been widely appreciated. Many see it as a refreshing reminder that even the most dedicated professionals benefit from taking time to recharge.

I'm on a partial sabbatical before I announce my next assignment. I'm available for consultations at RxDx clinic, Whitefield, Bengaluru (check my profile). Since I'm turning 50 soon and have some time on hand, I thought it's time to reset few things.
