Realign portfolio to hike allocation in good MF SIPs

Send Push

Not many investors know whether they have invested in the right funds and if their fund portfolio is on track. The Portfolio Doctor assesses the health of the fund portfolio, examines the schemes and their suitability with regard to the goals, and, if required, recommends corrective measures. The advice given is based on the performance of the funds, the risk profile of the investor as well as his financial goals.

PORTFOLIO CHECK-UP
Srinivasan’s current corpus is not too large, and he will need to increase his investments to meet the goals.

  • His investment portfolio has a mix of good and bad mutual fund performers.
  • He tends to invest in good funds, but does not monitor or review their performance regularly.
  • As a result, there are a few laggards in his portfolio that should be removed.
  • Thematic funds and flavour-of-the-month index funds should be avoided.
  • He will also need to increase some of his SIP investments by 10% every year to reach his goals.

Note from the doctor
Srinivasan should purchase life insurance of at least Rs 1 crore for himself so that he can safeguard his financial goals.
  • He should review his investments and rebalance at least once a year.
  • He should reduce risk when the goal is near so that he doesn’t miss the financial goals.
