Iceland Cricket, known for its witty social media presence, recently posted a tweet on X in which they posted their 'IPL 2025 frauds and scammers team' from the ongoing 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. There have been a whole lot of players who have delivered beyond expectations. On the other hand, a list of players has astonishingly underperformed too.
Lucknow Super Giants' wicketkeeper-batter and skipper, Rishabh Pant, was made the captain for this side. Being acquired at a record-shattering price of INR 27 crore, Pant has been able to score only 128 runs in 10 innings in so far. The openers who were shortlisted were both from Chennai Super Kings: the misfiring Rahul Tripathi and Rachin Ravindra.
Check the post below:
On either side of Pant at No. 4 were Ishan Kishan and Venkatesh Iyer. Other than Kishan's debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he lit up the stage with a blazing ton, his outings with the bat have been a lot to be desired. Venkatesh has also had only one noteworthy innings so far. He has fared quite poorly otherwise.
Maxwell's season has been a forgettable one with the bat. Ahead of the Australian all-rounder getting ruled out due to injury, he could only register 48 runs in six innings on his return to the Punjab Kings. Liam Livingstone and Deepak Hooda have had minimal contributions for their respective sides. The seasoned campaigner in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin found his name on the list too.
Matheesha Pathirana, who has been unusually expensive (economy rate of 10.22 so far), was one of the two pacers in the XI. Leading the pack was Mohammed Shami. The star Indian pacer has conceded runs at a rate of 11.23 up to this point. Through a clever bit of wordplay, the "Impact Player" was labelled as "No Impact Player" with Mukesh Kumar featuring.
