In the exciting T20 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, visitors Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) emerged victorious by six wickets against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 46 of the (IPL 2025) season. RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first, a decision that paid off as they restricted Delhi Capitals to a modest total.
Delhi were pegged back early, with the opening partnership falling quickly. Abishek Porel (28) and KL Rahul (41) were the top contributors, but the Capitals couldn't build a solid foundation. Karun Nair and Faf du Plessis failed to make significant scores, leaving the team at 72-3 in the 10th over.
DC's lower order continued to collapse, with Axar Patel (15) and Ashutosh Sharma (2) both falling to RCB's bowlers. Vipraj Nigam was run out for 12, while Stubbs contributed a valuable 34 runs later in the innings. The innings concluded with Delhi managing 162-8 from 20 overs.
Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the standout bowlers for RCB. Bhuvneshwar picked up three wickets, including that of Tristan Stubbs, while Yash Dayal and Krunal Pandya also contributed with a wicket each.
RCB started their chase with confidence, as Jacob Bethell provided a solid foundation with a knock of 12. Despite a flurry of early wickets—Bethell (12), Devdutt Padikkal (0), and Rajat Patidar (6)—the match remained within their grasp. After losing three quick wickets, Virat Kohli (51) and Krunal Pandya (73) steadied the ship, forging a crucial partnership of 119 runs to guide RCB to victory.
With the win, RCB jumped to the top of the points table with 14 points from 10 matches, pushing Gujarat Titans into second place. Delhi Capitals, with their loss, remain in the top half of the table but will need to bounce back to maintain their playoff hopes.
