"Aaj hum sharif kya ho gaye toh yeh badmash ho gaye" J-K MLA Mehraj Malik hits out at BJP after scuffle in Assembly

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 9 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party's Jammu and Kashmir MLA, Mehraj Malik on Wednesday hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party for allegedly "attacking" him over his comments, and the National Conference for "keeping silent" while BJP MLAs attacked him.
"They (BJP) feel that they can come with a crowd like goats and sheep and stop me. Aaj hum sharif kya ho gaye toh yeh badmash ho gaye (Today we are innocent, so they became crooks). You have not seen crook behaviour; I have left all that," the AAP MLA told reporters in Jammu.
After the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly met again after a two-hour adjournment, multiple MLAs, including Mehraj Malik, raised the issue of the BJP MLAs attacking him. Visuals from the House showed him standing up on the table and demanding to discuss the issue.
Following protests, the Legislative Assembly proceedings were adjourned sine die.

Malik further criticised the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly's non-functioning, saying that important resolutions should have been considered on the floor.
Talking about raising the issue of alcohol being present near certain religious places, the AAP MLA accused the BJP of double standards.
"We are raising the issue of alcohol. It should have been raised in the assembly today. For so many years, there was governance of the BJP, and then they were not thinking about religion? The alcohol shops in Mata Vaishno Devi could have been shut before too," Malik said.
He also criticised the National Conference MLAs, claiming that while the party members have been disrupting the house for the last three days, they kept silent when Malik was being attacked.
"For three days, they were shouting in the house, but now, something was said against me, so there was silence in the House; nothing was there, only that discussion on the bill should not happen. I am sad about that. I have said from the start that I do not understand what they are doing," the AAP MLA said.
"The house proceedings should have happened, but only after the attack was there calmness, and their (BJP) attack is just like the ones before. Whenever someone tries to better society or raise their voice, then they are shot, whether it is Gandhi or to choke the soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir," he added.
Talking about another issue of making contractual workers permanent, he added, "There was another resolution that casual labourers should be made permanent too; there should have a discussion on that too, but no one takes an interest in how to give better employment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Soldiers are addicted, nobody pays attention to that. The police are under the BJP, but no action is being taken. I gave a point of order, and I was attacked."
Earlier, a scuffle broke out in the house following comments made by the AAP MLAs on Hindus, claiming that while Hindus wear a 'tilak,' they sin all the time.
Various BJP leaders, including MLA Vikram Randhawa, who was in the House when the scuffle broke out, have opposed the comments.
"He has abused Hindus... We will not tolerate this... He has said, 'Hindu tilak laga ke paap karta hai, chori karta hai, sharab peeta hai (A Hindu sins while wearing tilak, steals from others, drinks alcohol)... We will give him an answer," Randhawa said. (ANI)
