According to the report, scammers were trapping users by sharing deepfake videos using advanced technology. Scammers were resorting to deepfake videos of popular cricketers, celebrities, and businessmen, etc. to promote investment apps. Apart from banning accounts and pages, Meta has advised users to avoid such fake videos and posts.
Taking action, Meta has decided to ban 23,000 Facebook accounts and pages. All these accounts and pages were found to be involved in financial fraud. Meta said that it will continue to take such action in the future as well, so that the social media platform can be made safe. The number of active Facebook users in India is more than 375 million i.e., 37 crores.
