Union J's Jaymi Hensley shares heartbreaking update on fiancé's funeral: 'I will never be ready'

Union J singer Jaymi Hensley has marked the day before he lays his fiancé to rest by saying how much he will miss his partner.

Oliver Marmon, 33, died after falling from a third-floor hotel window in August at the Hind Hotel in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

Hensley spent more than a decade with Mr Marmon, and according to a 2023 social media post they were due to tie the knot on Tuesday.

While sharing an image of the two of them on Instagram on Monday, the X Factor star suggested this has turned into the date of his partner's funeral.

Hensley wrote: "This is the first photo from the night I met you! Tomorrow should have been the happiest day of our lives, we should have been saying our vows and saying I do, but instead it will be the day I lay you to rest. I will never be ready, I miss you so much! I love you more than I've ever loved any one."

An inquest into Mr Marmon's death was opened this month, and adjourned until March 12 by the assistant coroner for Northamptonshire, Hassan Shah.

He said the "provisional cause of death is head injuries, pending further tests", and the body had been released to his family.

Hensley found fame in the 2012 series of The X Factor, along with bandmates Josh Cuthbert, JJ Hamblett and George Shelley.

They had hits with You Got It All, Tonight (We Live Forever), Beautiful Life and Carry On, and have released the albums Union J, You Got It All and Ten.

In August, Hensley first broke his silence on his partner's death. He said in a statement: "Jaymi Hensley would like to thank all the love, messages and prayers sent to him over the loss of his beautiful fiancé Oliver Marmon.

"At this time the family would like the media to respect the privacy of Jaymi and Oliver's family while they mourn the loss of Oliver."

At first, detectives launched a murder investigation to establish the full circumstances of the death and arrested a 34-year-old man from Rushden, Northants on suspicion of murder. However, he was later released without charge.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed Marmon died after falling from a window of a hotel in Northamptonshire. The tragic incident happened at the three-star Hind Hotel in Wellingborough. Ambulances rushed to the scene after he fell at approximately 11:30pm on Sunday night but he was pronounced dead at the scene an hour later.

A forensic postmortem examination was carried out on Tuesday, August 13 at Leicester Royal Infirmary. The preliminary results of the investigation revealed the cause of death to be injuries sustained from a fall from height.

Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell, who led the investigation, said: “This has been a complex and fast-moving investigation, and our thoughts remain with Olly’s family and loved ones at this very difficult time. It is only right that an incident such as this is treated with the utmost seriousness, to make sure we have done all we can to understand what has happened and to get the answers those left behind need and want."

“In Olly’s case, I can confirm the evidence we have examined did not support his death as a homicide, which has now been further confirmed by the results of the preliminary forensic post-mortem report. Our initial findings and decision have been explained to Olly’s family who will continue to be supported by Northamptonshire Police as they mourn the loss of their loved one. A 34-year-old man arrested in connection with this incident has been released without charge and is now assisting the investigation team with the coroner’s process.”
