Sick Met cop who let men rape his drugged wife - and her mysterious death

Send Push

A former Metropolitan Police inspector drugged his wife and forced her to have sex with other men while unconscious, it has been claimed.

Warren Arter, 54, a disgraced Detective Inspector, was dismissed from the Met Police in May 2023 after a tribunal found him guilty of gross misconduct. The tribunal concluded that he had “attended gatherings where drugs were present and were openly being taken”, and allegedly offered to supply the substances.

Arter - who had reportedly worked with a team that dealt with rape victims - was arrested in 2024 and charged with misconduct in public office over claims he had inappropriate contact with a victim of a crime. He died in jail earlier this year while awaiting trial at Woolwich Crown Court, with his wife found dead in a blood-soaked Barbados hotel room two weeks prior.

Hairdressing tutor Rebekah, 47, was found by Arter two weeks before he died in June this year on the bed they shared at the luxury O2 Beach Club and Spa hotel in Barbados. At the time, police were in the midst of allegations of coercive control made against him, reports.

The cause of her death remains unexplained, with police finding no signs of any visible injuries and ultimately ruling out foul play. Friends believe it stemmed from a lifestyle to which Arter had enslaved her, claiming that he drugged her unconscious and forced her to have sex with men at sex parties.

Sources told the publication that they believed Rebekah and her husband were addicted to crack cocaine. Initial post-mortems carried out following the gory discovery found traces of cocaine in Rebekah's liver, and the investigation is said to have concluded that she died from a massive lung haemorrhage caused by a viral infection.

An inquest into Rebekah's death was opened at South London Coroner's Court in September. When the proceedings resume they will seek to conclude the exact cause of death, with her ex-cop husband's conduct also likely to be examined.

The Sun reported that Arter provided conflicting accounts of the moment he discovered his wife's body, claiming in one that he returned to his room after sunbathing and found her after waking from sleep two hours later. In another account, he said the two went for dinner the night before, and that he had slept for 18 hours before finding her dead.
