Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has opened up about her pet pooch Hatchi's health problems, confessing on Breakfast, "he's a bit poorly".

During her Monday morning appearance on October 7 to chat about her latest solo single and her bustling life, the 31-year-old singer spilled to hosts and about the challenges of solo stardom alongside being a mum. Camera shots of Perrie with her three-year-old son Axel prompted Jon to note her canine care duties after Hatchi popped into view on the show.

Juggling her packed schedule, the star mentioned: "And having a dog, yes! He's a bit poorly now little Hatchi. He's getting a bit old, he's got an awful cough."

To the presenters' surprise, she elaborated: "Yeah, so it's worrying me, Hatchi. I've had him for years!" The doggo, who is now twelve, holds a special place in her heart as she conveyed: "He's like twelve now and he's like my best friend," reports .

Sally sympathised, calling Hatchi: "Your other baby." Perrie accepted saying: "My other baby. The furball that taught me how to be a mum. He taught me responsibilities so I think that was good."

The Pomeranian named Hatchi was initially adopted back in November 2012 by Perrie and her then-fiance Zayn Malik. Post-breakup, Perrie took full ownership of their beloved pup.

In 2021, the singer revealed that Hatchi had become more clingy since she and her partner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain welcomed their son, Axel. Sharing a snap of her dog online, the mother of one showed fans how she was smothered by her four-legged friend as he craved attention.

She captioned the pic: "For all you people who keep asking 'How's Hatchi since the baby arrived?'" She concluded with the word, "clingy".

As well as providing viewers with insight into her busy family life, Perrie was also asked whether she's still in contact with her band members. Even though they are currently on a hiatus, Little Mix currently consists of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie. Previous member Jesy Nelson decided to quit the group in 2020.

When opening up about her new solo single, You Go Your Way, Jon asked: "I also guess it's about going your own from the band. How is it with you guys, you're all doing your own things, do you still keep in touch?"

Perrie replied: "Yes absolutely," she added: "Both of the girls have messaged me about You Go Your Way, they love the song and they posted about it. We still chat often."

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
